Shrinking just aired season 3 earlier this year, but all signs point to a refreshingly quick return, as one of the show’s stars just confirmed season 4 is officially done filming.
Shrinking season 4 has finished filming ahead of expected early 2027 premiere
TV’s streaming era has brought a lot of advantages over linear TV, but undoubtedly one drawback is that shows tend to have much longer waits between seasons.
Traditional broadcast television usually schedules shows to premiere in the fall and run through the spring, then return after a short summer break for a new season in the fall.
In streaming, viewers are shocked when a show comes back after only a year.
Apple TV has slowly been getting better at this. Slow Horses is the best example, but another recent one is Your Friends & Neighbors. And we’re seeing signs of other series getting quicker turnarounds between seasons, including Shrinking.
Shrinking aired its season 3 finale this April, and by May we heard that filming on season 4 was about to start.
Now Jessica Williams, the star who plays Gaby, has confirmed that season 4 has officially wrapped production. This means the series will almost certainly return in early 2027.
On a show like Shrinking, post-production is a much quicker process than with series that are heavy on CGI and other special effects. So we could see Shrinking season 4 premiere in late January, exactly one year after season 3 debuted.
More conservatively, the show returning by spring 2027 seems a safe bet.
